L the Legislative Assembly is faced with the choice of the Attorney General's Office, an appointment of particular importance in life of the nation because it is the officer investigating the crime and criminal charges. In his integrity, objectivity, diligence, courage, much depends on democratic consolidation. There are two aspects to this choice: the time it will be completed and the other, the person will ultimately be chosen. Regarding the former, the time already served and currently as we know, is the prosecutor appointed by the previous owner Prosecutor, the Deputy, who is leading this institution. This of course is extremely irregular and that in any state of law prevails democratic principle, the people in whom sovereignty resides, delegated to their representatives the exercise of public power. When the owner was acting Prosecutor of course by our elected representatives had the power to appoint a deputy, but ended his term also ended his deputy. Given the irresponsibility of the Legislature to elect not time his successor, Deputy Prosecutor serves provisionally in violation of our Constitution. The judges who do not accept the current requirement of "Fiscal" obeying the Constitution, act correctly, they must also defend it. Regarding the second aspect, choosing the right person for the job, the situation becomes more complicated, because political parties tend consider their interests and not those of people, that has been emerging from the Second Republic with the Peace Accords. Negotiated without taking into account the interest of the nation but of his group, of course behind that of the sovereign people delegated to exercise the power in his name, according to their interests and needs. Democracy requires patience, effort, dedication, but mostly for its consolidation, the active involvement of political parties in parliament, these are the key intermediaries between the people and power. The new Attorney General must respond to country needs and not those of a political party or interests, and between the attributes you should not miss the fairness and courage to seriously investigate the crime and eradicate impunity in the country. There must of course, have experience in criminal matters, and deep knowledge of constitutional law and international law of human rights, but above all, independence of mind.
