The International Criminal Court created in 1998 and became operational in 2002, recently issued an arrest warrant against the current Sudanese President Omar Albasha. The prosecution of the Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, is that the senses Sudan has perpetrated crimes against humanity, including extermination, forcible transfer, torture and rape, and war crimes as intentional attacks on civilians and looting. The arrest warrant against a sitting president, breaking a precedent in international law. Until now considered a head of state or government enjoyed absolute immunity, meaning that under any excuse he could prosecute, this possibility only arose when he left office as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. With the arrest warrant of the Court of course endorsed by the Security Council of the United Nations, absolute immunity does not apply when the prime minister or president of a State, has committed crimes against humanity or war. This is a valuable precedent and a warning to modern tyrants in power, sooner or later be brought to justice. So far Sudan has ignored this order and of course will not deliver to their head of state, but it must stay a lifetime in this country, because out there any country that has ratified the Statute of the International Criminal Court sent to The Hague for trial. No doubt that the Security Council has taken a big hit in this case, we know what this modern dictator has done in his country, but strange that this measure does not implement against others like him have committed serious crimes against humanity, including former President United States, GW Bush who authorized the torture of prisoners at Guantanamo, demonstrating the different standards of international justice. Is not the same prosecute a Third World dictator in power, that a prominent feature of the most powerful country in the world out of power.
