Two disciples of Jesus were walking the same day, the first of the week to a village called Emmaus, about two miles distant from Jerusalem, they were conversing about all that had happened. He asked: - What?
They replied: "All about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how gave the chief priests and our leaders to be condemned to death and crucified him. We hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. And you see, two days ago that this happened. As they approached the village where they were, he made a motion to continue, but they urged him, saying, "Stay with us for evening and the day is almost over.
And he went to stay with them. Sitting at the table with them he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it. They opened their eyes and recognized him. But he disappeared. They commented: - Did not our hearts burn while he talked on the way to us the Scriptures? COMMENT
